(Late) Election Nails

Hey ya'll

I've been gone for a while, and this is my sincere apology. Now onto the nails!
I have a simple "tye-dye" style mani for you guys today. It was inspired by, what else, election night!

Poor cuticle :c

 

Four more years!

These didn't take a lot of time, but I liked how they turned out. The holo sparkle topcoat gave it a little more "oomph".

That's all for today, hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to upload my first attempt at a framed mani! Also I just made my first purchase from Born Pretty Store, some cute pink bows, so I'll make sure to update as soon as I get those!

Wizard of Oz Nails

I recently went to my schools production of The Wizard of Oz, so I decided to do some cute dorothy inspired nails for the occasion. This was my first time attempting the "plaid" look, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out!

 

For the "Dorothy's dress" look, I started with a base coat of white, and then used a nail art brush to paint the blue lines. To give it some more depth, I added a dab of blue polish on the sections of the lines that overlapped.

For the "Ruby Slipper" look, I used a brush coated in clear polish, and dipped it in glittery red embossing powder. It took about 3 coats to cover the nail opaquely.

Fall Nails

I'm pretty positive that fall is my favorite season. The leaves turn, it gets cold out, and of course, there's Halloween! I got a new flakie topcoat that I wanted to try out and it ended up looking like October, so here's my first fall-themed mani!

For this mani, I used Wet 'N Wild Black Creme as a base and layered on two coats of Essence Nail Art Special Effect Topper (whew!) in Night In Vegas. I'm really happy with how it turned out, the flakies were a red/green duochrome that looked awesome over the black. I even put a matte topcoat on after a day or two that looked great, but I didn't get a photo :(

 

Im pretty swamped with work, but I'm planning on posting some Halloween themed nails, along with my first franken mani soon! Keep checking up on the page :)

 



Frankens!

I know this blog is called Frank N' Fingers, but I've actually only made three frankens in my entire life (omg). The first one was a horrible failure, the color from the glitter bled into the polish and then it all hardened into a huge mess, so I scrapped it. But then I did some research on glitters and polishes that mixed well together, and made my (two) first succesful frankens!

 

I present, All Holo's Eve!



 

 

 

 

All Holo's Eve is a black creme base with holographic mini glitter suspended in it. I created this franken by using Wet n' Wild's Black Creme and adding in half a bottle of Fantasy Makers Confetti in Glitz

 

 

Next up is... Holoback Girl!



 

Holoback Girl is a holographic topcoat with holographic mini glitter in a clear polish. I created this franken by mixing one bottle of L.A. Colors Voltage with a half bottle of  Fantasy Makers Confetti in Glitz.

 

Well there you have 'em, my first succesful frankens! Tomorrow I'll post some halloween inspired nails, so stay tuned. 



 



Teal gradient mani

I have a lot of manis in my queue, but I'm feeling lethargic today, so I'll share a quick gradient that I did on my little sister's friend when she slept over the other night.

They were watching a movie and wanted me out of there ASAP, so I didn't get to tidy the edges up :c

I did two coats of Sinful Colors Snow Me White as a base and let it dry. For the gradient, I used the sponging method, brushing Sinful Colors Rise And Shine on a makeup sponge, and then dabbing it 3/4 of the way down the nail. I repeated the sponging two more times, moving up towards the tips each time until Rise And Shine was opaque. I topped that with two coats of Wet n Wild Shine in Kaleidoscope, a pretty topcoat with small hex holo glitter. Then I finished with one coat of Seche Vite and I was done!

Aw, messy edges :c

I didn't quite capture the holo effect from the topcoat, but it looked nice anyway! Tomorrow I'm going to post my first (successful) franken-polishes so stay tuned.

Pink Ruffle Nails/ semi-tutorial

I recently volunteered at a raffle with some girls from my schools gender equality club to support women who are currently suffering from, or have survived cancer. The coordinators wanted us to wear something interesting and eye catching, but since I'm not very into wearing flashy colors, I decided to do a themed mani!

THE PINK RUFFLE MANI

My cuticles look oddly dirty, but I promise it was just the lighting!

For the ruffle mani, I used PRO nail care lacquer in Venus as a base coat for all of my nails (this particular polish is just about as old as me, so it probably won't be available). Then I used a ballpoint pen tip as a makeshift dotting tool and applied dots of polish connecting horizontally across my thumb nail ONLY, starting with Sinful Colors, Snow Me White. After that, I repeated the dotting method with four different pinks that I had (Top to bottom: Sinful Colors- Shining Heart, SC- Fusion Neon, SC- Tokyo Doll, SC- Snow Me White, Migi Nail Art Pen- [this one had no name so I'm just going to call it neon pink], Shining Heart, Fusion Neon, and Snow Me White.)

NOTE: To achieve the ruffle effect, you need to start from the bottom and work your way up, that way the dots overlap and create a cute scalloped effect!

A brighter shot, you can see some weird dark flecks in the Shining Heart for some reason...

 

 

On my other four fingers, I used two coats of Fusion Neon. Then I topped all of them off with two coats of Kleancolor Pink Star, which gave it a really pretty frosted look and tied all of the nails together, and Seche Vite's Dry Fast Top Coat (my favorite!)

A bit brighter than in real life, but this picture shows off the shimmer really well.
